Section 502.1.1 of the Virginia Existing Building Code REQUIRES that assessment, design, and repairs to structural concrete be in accordance with ACI CODE 562. Other states, such as North Carolina, South Carolina, and Florida, as well as the 2024 IEBC, have adopted it as a permissible / deemed-to-comply approach. The principles in this industry standard code are widely applicable to good practice, even where not adopted.
This full-day in-person public seminar is an opportunity for engineers, designers, code officials, inspectors and others in the restoration industry to learn about ACI CODE 562, see examples of its use, and ask questions. It is being held at the American Concrete Institute Mid-Atlantic Resource Center in Columbia, MD near BWI for those requiring air travel and is within driving distance of many of the major cities in Virginia, including Virginia Beach, Richmond, Roanoke, and Charlottesville. ACI CODE 562, course notes, MNL-3(20) and published companion articles are included with registration. Attendance also presents an excellent opportunity to visit the ACI Mid-Atlantic Resource Center and see the certification laboratory that includes a mixing station and testing equipment.
Note that this seminar is based on the new 2025 edition that includes updates to the 2021 (and prior) editions that may be applicable jurisdictionally (such as in Virginia). It includes some discussion of sections and provisions that are new to the 2025 version.
