SKA provided structural design, as well as MEP and building envelope commissioning services at the North Carolina A&T State University Engineering Research and Innovation Complex (ERIC). The project is a $90 million dollar research building design to accommodate the University’s growing needs for engineering innovation. The 130,000 sf building contains thematic research spaces, living labs/experiential studios, modern re-configurable classrooms, offices and meeting spaces, as well as strategically designed open/green spaces. The ERIC building provides the University with a state of the art engineering facility with the flexibility to adapt to ever changing research needs. MEP commissioning was performed in accordance with the LEED guidelines for enhanced commissioning. SKA provided roofing testing services utilizing Electronic Leak Detection (ELD) to locate open laps as well as pinholes in the roofing membrane. This ELD process helped to ensure that potential sources of water leakage were discovered and corrected before the roofing contractor left the site.
