The latest trend in athletics for higher education institutions is the use of indoor practice facilities, which allow athletes to maintain training schedules regardless of inclement weather. Named in honor of Bob McCreary, a 1961 Wake Forest University graduate and prominent donor, this is the school’s first indoor practice facility. Designed to serve all athletic programs on campus, the $21 million structure is located behind the Miller Athletic Center on the Reynolda Campus. Facilities include a 120-yard artificial turn with roll-up doors that open onto existing football practice fields. Meeting the goals of the athletic program to ensure teams remain competitive through regular training, the facility also serves as a recruiting tool to attract top athletes across the country.
