David Tepke, P.E., SE, FACI and Natasha Boger Workman, PhD, EI attended the 2026 American Concrete Institute Spring Concrete Convention in Rosemont, Chicago. David participated in the Committee 222 meeting and discussed ACI topics and documents on corrosion of metals in concrete. Both David and Natasha found the various sessions and committee meetings insightful and filled with high energy discussions. Both helped to mentor the Kennerly Education Initiative awardees, Anindya Shaha from the North Carolina State University and Tim Staub from University of North Carolina at Charlotte. David, Natasha, and their respective professors were helped the students get the most out of the convention. Not the least of one of the highlights of the convention was attending an MLB game at Wrigley Field! Go Cubs!

The Kennerly Education Initiative was created to honor the legacy of one of our founders, Bob Kennerly, and is now in its 3rd year. We continue to promote impactful opportunities for engineering students. We do this by seeking out college engineering departments and professors who nominate students with a genuine passion for engineering and would benefit from attending and meeting many engineers involved in cutting edge research, impactful field experiences, and improving the field of engineering.

Both are back at work and are already preparing ACI’s Fall Convention in Atlanta. Indeed, “Always Advancing’ is part of ACI’s current logo!
