GREENSBORO, NC (October 6, 2014) – SKA is excited to announce its new thought leadership series, TECH TALKS | engineering intelligence. TECH TALKS is a speaker series provided and hosted by senior SKA engineers, as well as occasional guest speakers and co-presenters.
Created to share knowledge with facility owners, clients, and the design and construction community, this series aims to create a knowledge-based community and will take the form of lectures, workshops, panels, round tables, seminars, case studies, webinars, podcasts, Tweetups, and even project tours. Initially, TECH TALKS are being scheduled every two months and will be located in different geographic markets where SKA has a presence to reach the largest audience. Depending on audience demand, the frequency may vary.
The series complements SKA’s TECH NOTES, which are written communication tools featuring recent project case studies and lessons learned from an engineering perspective.
TECH TALKS kicks off on October 24th at the University of North Carolina Greensboro EUC, featuring Stephen P. Robinson, P.E., LEED AP, manager of the SKA’s Building Solutions Group. The session, “Practical Benefits of Air and Water Infiltration Testing Programs for Fenestration in New and Existing Buildings,” will be certified through the American Institute of Architects (AIA) and eligible for one (1) CEU. This topic is targeted to facility owners and managers.
The concept for TECH TALKS is based on a content series SKA offered previously for interested audiences. With SKA’s renewed focus on marketing, business development and strategic growth, the series was revitalized and packaged as a formal knowledge-sharing program by SKA’s new director of marketing and business development, Tracey Gould, M.S. IMC.
“SKA is excited about the future of this ‘new’ series. It enables us to tap in to the intellectual capital of our talented staff and share their knowledge with others,” said Gould. “It’s about creating value, being a resource to our clients, and positively impacting the professional community.”
SKA’s impact on the built environment in North Carolina, the southeast, and across the country includes recently completed projects: the Greensboro Aquatic Center, Sandpiper Run Condominiums in South Carolina, various projects at the University of Alabama, the new Buncombe County Courts building in Asheville, First Presbyterian Church renovations in Greensboro, WFU Baptist Medical Center Pediatric Emergency Department, renovations at the Biltmore Estate, multiple international projects for Tyco Electronics, and renovation and expansion projects for the City of Greensboro Coliseum, among others.
