David Tepke Publishes in ICRI’s CRB on Coastal Concrete Buildings: Key Considerations

The United States has thousands of miles of seawater coastlines and a large network of associated estuarine waters. Many reinforced concrete buildings are located within a few hundred yards to a few miles of these coastlines. Although concrete structures are generally durable and can be designed and constructed for extended service-life, even in harsh environments, many existing coastal buildings experience significant deterioration after just a few decades of service.

In the July/August 2026 issue of the ICRI – International Concrete Repair Institute Concrete Repair Bulletin, David Tepke, PE discusses Key Considerations When Assessing Existing Coastal Concrete Buildings by answering questions, including:
Why are so many coastal buildings at risk of deterioration?
What influences severity of exposure?
What exterior portions of a structure are most at risk for corrosion?
How does the age of a building impact assessment?
What are some considerations associated with assessing damage?
…and others
