Hilary Vickerman from our Charlottesville office took part in the Charlottesville Regional Chamber of Commerce’s “Stepping with the CEO” in the early hours near the Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital campus. The hospital’s CEO, E Bernard Boone III FACHE led the walk with many Chamber members and local business representatives asking questions and speaking briefly about their companies and aspirations. It was a typical misty Spring morning framing the hospital’s location on land once owned by Thomas Jefferson, that now has become a very modern and cutting-edge medical facility. The walk skirted the adjacent properties including the nearby property of University of Virginia‘s Worrell Estate that houses the Kluge–Ruhe Aboriginal Art Collection. This is a uniquely Charlottesville experience, that blends history and present times. The museum’s ‘safari-like’ grounds was not very far off, literally and figuratively, from the Lewis & Clark artifacts-rich foyer of Mr. Jefferson’s home at Monticello.
